Is Literary and Cultural Analysis right for you?

  1. You seek freedom of choice and want to combine our core course with electives or a minor programme from across the Faculty of Humanities, for instance in Media Studies, Philosophy, Art History, and Global Arts, Culture and Politics. Or from other faculties like the Social Sciences.  
  2. You would like to study a semester abroad or do an internship. 
  3. It is your desire to engage in multi-faceted and critical engagement with academic and social debates. Therefore you will be taught by committed scholars who collaborate with local partner institutions and are experts in their respective fields of study (i.e. gender studies, decolonial studies, environmental humanities, cultural memory). Our internationally diverse student community brings together insights and experiences from all over the world. 
  4. You want to study in a vibrant and creative European hub where many international students, scholars, and artists meet and collaborate. You can work with and study renowned institutions such as the Amsterdam Museum, the Eye Museum, or the Black Archives, and critically engage with the traces of colonialism, conflict, and resistance in the urban space.

Discover Literary and Cultural Analysis

In Literary and Cultural Analysis, we study literary texts, film, art, or political speeches and invite scrutiny of the cultural objects we actually deal with daily: youtube clips, tweets, rituals, public demonstrations, photographs, architecture, graffiti, costumes, textiles and so on.
